Ray of Change

Let's wake up to a better tomorrow,
Where the world is free of terror,
Let happiness prevail; no room for sorrow,
Let's illuminate the world, where there's darkness never.

Our protectors have trampled on our faith,
It's time we bring a difference to this city,
There's still scope for recovery, it isn't too late,
We can achieve this with unabashed tenacity.

It's time to shine, to put things in place,
To create a better world, for our children to live in,
Let's unite for a change, and forget the rat race,
Let's fight not with swords but with the strength within.

None of us are as strong as all of us are,
We are the future of change,
Together we stand up for the city that's ours,
To secure it, and throw terror out of range.

The time's to speak up, not to remain mum,
Don't settle for mediocrity; make a big fuss,
Our agitation will bear fruit in the days to come,
Let's just keep the fire burning inside us.

Success

What is success? What truly determines how successful one is in life? All of us spend most part of our lives worrying about how we can reach 'there'. However, the irony is that as soon as we get to the place that we're looking for, it is no longer important to us. By that time, we have already thought of the next level that we need to reach. Very often, if not always, we ignore what we are thinking/being/having in the present. Several gurus have highlighted the importance of living in the present; yet, this is the aspect of spirituality that we most often ignore. In the constant rat race, we lose our true selves and start living, literally, for society. We always plague our mind with thoughts about what people are doing, the luxuries they possess, the lives they lead, and so on.

However, we need to contemplate whether these things are relevant to us. While there's no denying that exterior success is important in life, success in the outer world without success in the inner world is frustration glorified. Until we feel content from within, there's no way in which we can enjoy our worldly success. This 'inner content' arises from a deep sense of gratitude towards the blessings of the almighty bestowed upon us. If we live in gratitude, our lives are sure to have a lot more meaning.

It's not about making a living; it's about making a life.

Every time you complain about not getting a promotion, take a moment to thank god that you're employed. When your clothes fit a little tight, be grateful that you have enough to eat.

Somewhere down the line, many of us are losing the plot. We equate success with only money, status, and achievement. If that was the case, then Osama Bin laden and all the other terrorists/goons in this world are also 'successful' But do we look up to them?

Certain things that truly reflect success:

When your husband comes home early some days because he misses you----It shows that he looks forward to coming home.

When your wife makes a big deal about you forgetting her anniversary----It shows how much she loves you.

When your teenaged children understand a 'No'----It shows that they still have a sense of reverence toward you.

And so on.

I'd like to end this article with a quote (which I came up with myself :) )

'I spent my entire life working towards buying my dream house. By the time I turned 50, I realized that I had hardly lived in it.'

Let's make sure that our lives don't end up being like the above-mentioned quote!

God Bless you all..

Relationships

A little bit of understanding,
A whole lot of trust,
Relationships are simple,
When there's only love and no lust.

Commitment is of the essence,
In other words, being true,
There should be no room for offense,
Every second we must learn something new.

A little bit of space, keeps the bond strong,
A balanced perspective, that's what we need,
In arguments that occur, no one's right or wrong,
Ignore the mind, and let the heart lead.

Taking a loved one for granted is the worst mistake ever,
Caustic words spoken cannot be undone,
Letting the ego rule, one must never,
Listening rather than talking is what helps in the long run.

Relationships come with a purpose,
They must be handled with utmost care,
A whole lot of love and a little bit effort,
Ensures a bond that's free of despair.

The secret of relationships

Right, so I'm back after a two month sabbatical of sorts. Actually I've been sort of pretending to work hard, which takes up most of my time. After all, acting busy is no easy feat. You know, it's so ironic that I'm such a dynamic person, but I'm still confined to a desk job. But luckily, I have the solution for my dilemma----contemplation. Yes friends, I can spend hours in contemplation, in a dream world far away from reality. I like to create my own reality. When I'm contemplating, the look on my face might give the impression that I'm solving a world problem or something, but more often than not, I'm simply imagining a crazy lovemaking session. It's something to do with being a piscean. We kinda border on eccentricity, if not cross it. But that apart, I do wonder what our purpose in life is, in terms of relationships. Wondered actually. I have the answer, which will help solve your relationship issues, if you have any.

I quote God: 'Blessed are the self centered, for they shall truly know me'

Nothing could be closer to the truth than this statement. Straight from the horse's mouth. (Conversations with god, book 1); In case I get sued by the almighty for copyright!

All our lives we keep wondering about the 'significant other' in our lives. Whereas, the truth is that there is only one person who deserves your undivided attention, yourself. This is the divine dichotomy. The key to all relationships is self-focus. Focus on what you are doing, being, having, thinking.
Our obsession with other people's problems and activities is what causes relationships to fail. I don't imply not being there for someone, that one must always be. But my take on this issue can be explained by the old adage----God helps those who help themselves. How can you love another, if you cannot love and respect yourself? Only if you experience the love for yourself can you know what it truly feels to love another. It is then when you can love absolutely and unconditionally. I will continue on this in a bit but till then let this idea sink in. And let me know how much you do/do not relate to it. One advice: try looking at what I said at the spiritual level. I'm sure you'll will grasp the essence of it.

God bless you all

An ideal world

A place full of love,
An existence so pure,
A land where I want to be,
Where for every ailment, laugher is the cure

Where negativity doesn’t exist,
Where differences are unheard of,
A world based on mutual respect,
A perfect world in every aspect

Such a world one can create,
If respecting nature becomes a purpose from which we don’t deviate,
For our highest purpose, our primary goal,
Is to be in tune with nature, and play our role

Atrocities will cease to occur,
There’ll be abundant healing; no one will suffer,
A new life will begin,
Where goodness prevails, and there’s no place for sin.

Such a world is in our reach,
If only we practice what we preach,
Give back nature what it’s given you,
See a better world unfold, and a much better you.

What is the purpose of my life?

What is the purpose of my life? The reasons for my confusion? Is there anything I truly want to do? Is there anywhere I truly want to go? I don’t understand at times what I want to be. This has been my position for as long as I can remember and I’m sure many of you reading this relate to it in some way or the other. Maybe there is a way of figuring this out. Today, I must decide what I don’t want to be. Let’s start with the corporate world. Alright, I DON’T want to be in the corporate world (If I do, it’ll only be in HR). Why? Because I suck at organising. Suck at managing people (loving and respecting them, YES. Hiring and Firing them? NO!). Suck at mathematics and accountancy. And don't really enjoy wearing formal clothes that suffocate my neck. What then, is the point of me pursuing an MBA? (A realisation which came upon me after enrolling and subsequently dropping out, from an MBA programme). Even if I did, it would have to be from someplace other than my own country and obviously not at a top school because my math skills could make a 6th grade teacher commit suicide. So then, I would be among the 1000 odd job aspirants from mediocre universities thinking of ways to answer an interview outside a drab room filled with people equipped with great experience and knowledge. Probably even before I get to the unfortunate stage of meeting these monsters, some dude from the IIM, XLRI etc etc would have impressed these people with his ‘’dedication’’, “mastery of knowledge in you-name-it” and confidence which could put a lion to shame. So where do the rest of us go? The rest of us not so “blessed” with academic intelligence? Do we end up in careers that make relatives gasp? Or make people come to the conclusion “I feel sorry for his parents, look at X’s son, he’s an engineer and Y’s daughter, she’s going to Harvard”. Though we all know that in our hearts, we youngsters give a damn of what people think. Why then do we have to worry about what society thinks?. Just do what you feel like. Wanna be a monk? Go ahead, be one.! A writer, A poet, An actor.. anything. Be what you choose to be? And if that choice doesn’t work, then choose again. But don’t give up! Not everyone is an MBA or a CA or whatever and that is perfectly fine. I’m sure the almighty created people for different purposes. It’s just that it might take a while to figure that out. But have fun figuring it out! Because that’s what life is intended to be. A whole lot of fun!

What are the medical, engineering etc professions all about? Millions of aspirants, many out of their parent’s choices, work their asses off for the entrance examinations, many of whom are unsuccessful and they try again and again and again…When they still don’t succeed, they commit suicide. When they do, they are almost definitely ragged by similar frustrated people who require a platform to vent their suppressed weakness and inabilities. The same child who set out to be a doctor/ engineer with a spring in his step, ends up being a frustrated soul with a personality disorder. My intention isn’t to berate these noble professions. After all, our survival depends on doctors but when I hear of ragging incidents in medical colleges, I often do wonder that a person who can’t display basic humanity towards a fellow human being, hardly stands a chance of being sympathetic towards a patient. If you have it in you, by all means go ahead. Of course, all medical and engineering colleges aren’t subject to ragging!. But don’t do it because you are asked to. Never do anything under pressure. When you continuously suppress your desires, you become a mere puppet of society’s will. Each time I read the papers, there’s some or the other news item of a student committing suicide due to poor marks. What is even more appalling is that it’s now happening at the primary and secondary school level. My question to parents: “ Is failing that math paper really the end of your son/daughter’s career?” Is he now fit to do nothing else? Why create so much pressure during these carefree years that will never return? My parents never pressurised me for anything and I will be forever indebted to them for that…

My message to fellow youngsters is this- Love who you are. Respect yourself. Dream big. I would like to end this by an inspiring line from Taare Zameen Par’s kholo kholo song “Tujhme agar...pyaas hai, Baarish ka ghar bhi paas hai!”

Relationship with God

Relationship with God

A relation of compassion, an exchange of love,
Our alliance with God is a gift from the heavens above,
Sometimes we listen, many times we don’t,
Protecting us always, leave us he won’t.

What happens to us is for our highest good,
This belief in destiny makes you strong like wood,
Many choices however, are in our hands,
We can choose to be a king in a palace or a pauper in the sands.

Whatever you choose, the fact is clear,
To Him always, you’ll be his dear,
In moments of sadness and in moments of happiness,
She’ll love you always, forever she’ll bless.

Mistakes are made, from experiences we learn,
Being happy is what we truly yearn,
There’s no losing in life, just different choices,
Listen to your heart, your inner voices.

Reclaim your life

Reclaim your life.

There’s always a chance to reclaim your life,
Mistakes are made, choices go wrong,
Acceptance of these is what makes life tick,
For problems and setbacks never stay for too long..

You live just once, explore the world..
Act like you own it, and call it your own,
Only then will you get what you truly desire,
A life with happiness and love adorned.

Wake up every morning, and thank god you exist,
Cherish the beauty of nature, enjoy the mist.
Know that you’re loved by him forever,
And leave you alone, she will never.

When one door closes, the other opens,
Opportunities in the world are limitless,
Tapping your potential needs to come from within,
There’s always God to guide you, with his warm caress.

The moments of youth never return,
Life is not just a process to learn,
Enjoying each second, is the key
Only this is what the soul truly yearns.

The Mind

The Mind

It flits from one thought to the other,
Never resolves an issue, only creates another,
The mind is such a bundle of thoughts,
Leave it to no use, and in an instant it rots.

We create thoughts every second of the day,
When we are awake, or when we are in our dreams far away,
Desperately one wonders, how they can,
For a moment at least put their minds at bay.

Some thoughts are pure, some constructive,
Some are useless, some destructive,
They come and go, with rapid speed
Oh how difficult the mind, is to lead.

The trick however is to let it be,
Let it conjure moments of sadness, and of glee
But listen to your heart, and then you’ll see
That’s the only way to set the mind free.

The heart guides the soul within,
It defeats the mind, with love it wins,
To it only, the soul listens truly,
Free of guilt and free from sins.
